What is asynchronous, synchronous, and semi-synchronous learning?

I was honored to co-author an article with Daniel Bauer from Better Leaders Better Schools. In the article first we explore synchronous, asynchronous, and semi-synchronous online instruction. Next, I share how I blend my online instruction with a "semi-synchronous" approach and Organized Binder. Finally, together we consider each type of instruction from multiple stakeholder perspectives - students, teachers, and parents.

We also reference strategies inherent to Organized Binder like retrieval practice (Powerful Teaching), creating a plan to help students move beyond the to do list, and more. Regardless of the online environment one thing is certain – just like in effective in-person classrooms, students thrive in a predictable and structured online learning environment.

Take a short trip over to the BLBS blog, you will enjoy the read and all of Danny's incredible resources for educators.

Cheers,

Mitch

ps. If you are a school leader and have not done so be sure to research and "level up" by joining one of Danny's School Leader Masterminds - you won't find a better professional development!
